Library Positions -- Current Openings
Part-Time Shelving Supervisor, Adult Services Part-time position, 12 -15 hours per week, as Shelving Supervisor in the Adult Services Department. Schedule is negotiable. Primary duties include: Assisting Circulation Manager with hiring of MGPL shelving staff. Training, scheduling and supervising MGPL shelving staff, as well as shelving and shelf-reading all collections, organizing shelving workloads in order to ensure prompt return of materials to stacks after use, and shifting and moving materials in order to maintain space in the library. Position also assists Reference and Technical Services staff with weeding projects. Position requires the ability to comprehend and shelve materials according to established Library classification methods. Must be able to work independently and as a team member. Also requires sufficient manual dexterity to be able to access/handle relevant library materials and sufficient mobility to be able to transport materials and equipment as required in the execution of job tasks. High school diploma or equivalency required. Supervisory and shelving experience desirable. Position available August 2010. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
